The information tour preceding the referendum on the Final Agreement on the creation of the Nunavik Regional Government starts
February 14, 2011 Kuujjuaq, Quebec – Today, the Negotiators for the Nunavik Regional Government start their information tour preceding the referendum on the Final Agreement on the creation of the Nunavik Regional Government.
Minnie Grey and Harry Tulugak, the negotiators for Nunavik, will undertake a thorough information tour and visit ail the Nunavik communities. The information tour, which will span over the upcoming four weeks, aims at providing the Nunavik communities with information on the draft Final Agreement on the creation of the Nunavik Regional Government. The Nunavik Negotiators will be accompanied by the Negotiators from Québec and Canada governments.
ln order to facilitate this tour and to reach the widest number of people, a variety of information materials has been prepared, both written and visual, with the objective of making the content of the Draft Final Agreement clear and understandable. Copies of the Draft Final Agreement have been made public prior to the community tour along with a condensed summary. These documents can be found at the following address: http://www.nunavikgovernment.caThe document is also available in ail Northern Villages offices.
Once the information and community tour is completed, there will be a Referendum Period of one month to allow the people of Nunavik to consider, discuss, and debate the issues related to the Draft Final Agreement. It will be Nunavimmiut that will make the final choice. The referendum will take place on April 27, 2011 and the following question will be asked to the eligible voters: «Do Vou approve the Final Agreement on the creation of the Nunavik Regional Government
