Project Manager – Nanilavut

Job Description:

Reports to:                                   The Director of Legal in the President’s Department

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct research using a genealogical and historical database in response to beneficiaries’ inquiries;
  • Obtain security clearance from Canada for database access (before hiring);
  • Plan and coordinate events and activities, in and outside Nunavik, in collaboration with Inuit orgs and communities, governments, cemeteries, etc.;
  • Plan and coordinate family visits to cemeteries or sanatorium;
  • Support the Project’ research team;
  • Facilitate health services delivery in support of beneficiaries and at events;
  • Working closely with other Inuit land claims organizations and staff, both in person and virtually;
  • Preparing Action Plans, Budgets, Activity proposals, etc.;
  • Be available to travel, as requested;
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • High School diploma, or proper combination of education and experience;
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience in a related field;
  • Good communication skills in Inuktitut and English both written and spoken, French is considered an asset;
  • Extensive knowledge of Word, good knowledge of Excel, Outlook PowerPoint, etc.;
  • Extensive Inuit traditions and cultural knowledge and understanding is required, considering the sensitive nature of this file (1940-60’tuberculosis epidemic legacy);
  • Basic accounting and budgeting skills;
  • Good planning skills (travels/events);
  • Respectful of confidentiality standards.
