Elections Administrator

Job Description:

Reports to:                                    The Assistant Director in the Corporate Secretary Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Recruitment and Training of local Returning Officers;
  • Plan and organize voting events;
  • Maintain an up-to-date list of potential local returning officers;
  • Identify and maintain a list of suitable polling stations in all communities;
  • Create administrative processes that streamline the communication between Makivvik and Local organisations;
  • Review and modify on an as needed basis election related notices and announcements;
  • Prepare election kits;
  • Keep Nunavik beneficiaries up to date with up-coming elections, drafting election notices, providing radio updates, etc.;
  • Work with third-party service providers;
  • Track and maintain election related expenses, budget preparation;
  • Be available to travel, as requested;
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or relevant work experience;
  • Good communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French;
  • Great computer skills : Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Knowledge of the Makivvik Election process;
  • Strong Interpersonal skills;
  • Ability to be impartial;
  • Good computer skills : Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Basic math and analytical skills;
  • Organized, reliable and able to deal with confidential information;
  • Ability to meet deadlines, ability to work under pressure;
  • Security clearance is required.
