Assistant to the Treasurer

Job Description:

Reports to:                                   The Treasurer.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist and advise the Treasurer in all his corporate duties;
  • Work closely with the Treasurer in both political and administrative functions of the Department;
  • Coordinate the activities of the Treasurer with all relevant government agencies, national, regional and local organizations and other departments with the organization;
  • Maintain, manage and review active files and documents including updating and following up on all action items with / and on behalf of the Treasurer;
  • Coordinate and oversee the administrative and daily activities of the office of the Treasurer and the Department;
  • Prepare and receive letters and correspondences including preparing necessary expense reports;
  • Organize and schedule meetings including ensuring and/or prepare agenda and briefing notes for meetings, creating presentations (IE Board Meetings, AGMs, and Executive Meetings), and assisting in logistical arrangements, as required;
  • Draft the Treasurer’s Annual report;
  • Coordinate special projects, as requested;
  • Coordinate travel arrangements and expense reports for the Treasurer;
  • Assist and participate in various projects and committees;
  • Be available to travel, as requested;
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree;
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience;
  • Great communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French;
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, etc.);
  • Knowledge of Nunavik and the Inuit culture and traditions, is an asset;
  • Strong interpersonal skills, sound judgement and excellent work ethic;
  • Demonstrate strong managerial and inter-personal skills;
  • Knowledge on investments, income tax and trusts, is an asset;
  • High level of integrity, confidentiality, accountability, and ability to lead;
  • Strong work ethic and positive team attitude;
  • Sound analytical thinking, planning, prioritization, and execution skills.
