Assistant Director

Job Description:

Reports to:                                    The Director in the Corporate Secretary’s Department.

Responsibilities:

  • Work in collaboration with the Director of the Corporate Secretary’s Department to implement Executive decisions and programs under the responsibility of the Corporate Secretary’s department;
  • Assist the Director of the Corporate Secretary’s Department in the management of the human resources of the department;
  • Oversee Makivvik’s offices in the communities with the exception of Kuujjuaq, Inukjuak, Montreal & Quebec City;
    • Ensure Office administrators are supported and monitored;
  • Upkeep Makivvik Corporation’s leases and filed in a properly fashion;
  • Replace the Director at any meetings or management responsibilities in his absence;
  • Be available to travel, as requested;
  • Perform other related duties within the scope of the position or as requested by supervisor.

Qualifications:

  • Three (3) years of relevant work experience;
  • Good communication skills in at least two (2) of the three (3) languages: Inuktitut, English and/or French;
  • Good computer skills : Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.);
  • Inuit traditions and cultural knowledge and understanding, is an asset;
  • Experience in management – Business Administration;
  • Demonstrates the capacity to work autonomously, a great team player and takes initiative.
