The Harvester Support Grant is a federal program created in 2019 at the request of Inuit to increase the number of country food sharing initiatives and increase the number of hunters engaging in these activities.
Makivvik signed an initial agreement with Crown-Indigenous Relations and Northern Affairs Canada of $7,156,250 for five years, which was topped off for a total of $19,070,750.
Makivvik’s Department of Environment, Wildlife and Research administers the fund and makes it available for local and regional projects.
