Press Release
October 29, 2024 – Iqaluit, Nunavut – Baffin Regional Chamber of Commerce (BRCC) is pleased to announce in partnership with Makivvik, the inaugural Aqsarniit Trade Show & Conference. This Arctic-led event will take place February 17th – 20th, 2025 at the Rogers Centre Ottawa (formerly the Shaw Centre).
The Aqsarniit Trade Show & Conference will explore the unique opportunities and challenges of business development in the Arctic and look at solutions to meet initiatives now and in the future. Acknowledging there are unique challenges operating in the Arctic, we will bring together Inuit leaders, industry leaders and entrepreneurs, to collaborate on solutions that ensure sustainable growth and prosperity in the region.
In addition to business discussions, the conference will shine a spotlight on the unique arts and culture across Inuit Nunangat. Artists from Nunavut, Nunavik, Nunatsiavut, and the Inuvialuit Region will be featured, offering southern audiences and international attendees the opportunity to engage directly with their creative talent and gain insights into the traditions that shape their work.
This event, led by Arctic organizations, highlights the importance of working in unity to build a strong and healthy economy for all Inuit across Inuit Nunangat.
“Makivvik is excited to be part of this Arctic-led event that brings together partners from across the Arctic to focus on building a future of economic success. Our aim is to strengthen the Arctic economy while ensuring that all beneficiaries in Nunavik and Inuit across Inuit Nunangat have access to these opportunities. The Aqsarniit Trade Show & Conference is an example of what can be achieved when we work together for the well-being of our communities,” says Andy Moorhouse, Vice President of Economic Development for Makivvik.
“It’s important to bring people together at this level and to bring the Arctic to the South to focus on the opportunities within Nunavut and Nunavik. The Arctic is developing rapidly, and we require support and partnerships to help make it happen,” says Steve Sullivan, BRCC President.
We look forward to sharing more information in the coming days with further details.
