PRESS RELEASE
Kuujjuaq – September 8th 2022 – Makivvik is seeking interested and qualified Nunavik beneficiaries who would like to submit their candidacy for the positions of Lead Negotiator and Deputy Negotiator for the Nunavik Self-Determination process.
The process has been ongoing since May 2018 when a Nunavik All Organizations Meeting adopted the 2018 Nunavik Inuit Declaration that mandated Makivvik to negotiate with Canada and Quebec in order to establish a form of ethnic government based on Inuit values, identity, culture and language.
With the election of Makivvik President Pita Aatami in 2021 a new approach was taken aiming to be fully transparent and inclusive of all organizations in Nunavik and of all beneficiaries.
Interested applicants may submit their cover letters outlining why they feel they are the appropriate candidate for these positions, along with a summary of their career, to the attention of Makivvik’s Legal Department Director Stephane Palardy, at <SPalardy@makivik.org>.
Applications must be received by Friday, September 23rd, 2022. The list of potential candidates will be reviewed during the upcoming Makivvik board of directors meeting in October.
