The Ungaluk Safer Communities Program, which is administered jointly by the Makivvik Corporation and the Kativik Regional Government and funds crime prevention projects across Nunavik and in urban areas in Quebec, will be launching its 2016/2017 call for project applications on June 8, and it will close on September 4, 2015 at 5:00 pm. There is only 1 call for proposals every year. There will be a new online application form available on the Ungaluk webpage on June 8 or earlier.
The Ungaluk Safer Communities Program team will be visiting 3 communities in April as a start to meet with community members to discuss the Application Form, the Guidelines, and will provide a small training on developing a crime prevention project. This will also give the Ungaluk team an opportunity to meet and discuss with project managers and community members about the kind of challenges they face as well as any other matters. The Ungaluk team will visit the following communities:
- April 16-17 – Kuujjuaq
- April 20-21 – Salluit
- April 23-24 – Inukjuak
The presentations given during the tour will be made available on the Ungaluk webpage so that everyone can access the same information. Also, on April 16, 20 and 23, the Ungaluk team will be on the radio FM to present some of the items listed above so that the general public can have the information. The team will be available to answer questions over the FM.
